It is one of three scientific names that had been commonly used to describe black morels. The crown is conical. Morchella conica is more shade-tolerant and hygrophilous than other morels. It is also hollow inside. It has a brownish or brownish-gray bonnet that has joined with a foot, which eventually becomes brown.
