Kalanchoe grandiflora All succulents can be described as fleshy to some degree, but this kalanchoe is positively indecent, a real fleshpot. A tall, upright succulent to 3 feet. Turquoise leaves suffused with peachblow. The peachblow will most likely not be as pronounced in summer as with winter temperatures. Kalanchoe grandiflora (Yellow Kalanchoe) - This succulent from India has thick upright stems to 3 feet tall bearing blue-green scalloped oval leaves. The leaves and young stems are often tinged a rose-violet color. Terminal spikes of fragrant yellow flowers appear in late spring - noted as not blooming regularly. Found at altitudes between 1000 and 2000 m in India , Kalanchoe Grandiflora is almost shrub-like , growing to over 1 meter high with stunning blue , rounded leaves and showy umbels of large golden yellow blooms in Summer. Easy warm germinator from a Spring or Summer sowing and will flower at quite a young age , gaining in size and performance every year eventually creating a spectacular summer display. Long lived and suited to climates that receive only light Winter frost or grown in pots and moved under shelter in cold Winter climates. Every succulent lover should have at least 1 in their collection! An interesting plant for its unusual foliage color and upright habit. The name Kalanchoe is somewhat of a mystery - there is some thought that it comes from a phonetic transcription of the Chinese words 'Kalan Chauhuy' meaning "that which falls and grows"
